Maybe you're running the same hardware you opened your store with over a decade ago? If you update your cell phone every year for new features and improved performance, it's time to understand the importance of showing your store's hardware the same consideration. This is a friendly reminder to update your aging hardware and keep your system running at an optimal level! As computers age, they slow down. This leads to overall reliability and performance issues including longer start up time, frequent crashes, error messages, and peripheral hardware connectivity issues. Additionally, older computers will be out of warranty meaning many issues you encounter will require outside hired help costing you more money down the line. Technology is ever changing and holding off on updating your hardware means you could run into issues meeting minimum requirements to run even the most basic software leading to you being unable to take Edge software updates as we continue to update our minimum prerequisite software requirements for installing and updating The Edge. We require a minimum of Windows 10 for running any version of The Edge 21.1 and higher. Versions of Windows No Longer Supported: This means that if you are running a version of Windows older than Windows 10, you will need to update your Windows Operating System in order to take this Edge update, plus any future updates. For questions and help regarding the process for updating your Windows Operating System, please contact your local IT technician. Edge Technical Support does not assist with Windows updates. To protect yourself from any potential issues when upgrading your Windows Operating System, we strongly recommend first contacting Edge Technical Support. The Edge Support Team can setup an appointment with your local IT technician prior to performing the Operating System upgrade, and prior to purchasing a new PC with the supported version of Windows 10. An appointment with Edge Support will provide guidance on proper installation of The Edge software for both servers and workstations, including a review of your Edge database backup location. For new Server PCs, The Edge Installation Team is also available for appointments to swap data from your current Edge Server to your new designated Server PC.
