We built the Edge to help jewelers reach their full potential and hope we have contributed to your success in some small ways. 2022 was a challenging but productive year for us. We moved the Edge to 64bit which was somewhat painstaking. Ninety reports needed to be rewritten as the report engine is no longer supported, a little pain but the rewards are significant. The Edge will always be evolving to keep up with technological changes and business needs. We are committed to our promise to never leave you in a technology time warp. Much good did come from the rewrite as we learned what is important to you. The report framework has been reworked: Choose the reports you want to see. Schedule when you want to see them (daily, weekly, etc.) Deliver them to anyone who needs them via email. Best practice downloadable parameters provided by ERA. The reports you need, when you need them, in the right hands automatically. We have always produced the most insightful and accurate reports in the industry to help you to make better decisions. Some of you may have struggled with the purpose of the different reports and choosing what reports to run and when. We hope the changes help you to better understand what’s driving your business so you can make better decisions to grow it. Enhanced our CRM further: Added Opportunities and Quotes features. Revamped Notifications. Partnered with ClientBook to enable bi-directional data sharing. Made a goodly number of enhancements as recommended by our clients. We have made several internal changes designed to help users get more out of the Edge. We created a concierge service to help new users transition to the Edge and use it to its full potential. We have built a knowledge base full of how-to documents and videos that is available at Edgeuser.com. Register for an account to gain full access to the site, including Q&A and discussion forums. We will be adding 2 new support technicians and a support receptionist in early 2023 to increase the level of support to you. Our Contact Us document provides tips for what information to include in your emails to help you get the quickest, most informed responses. The retail landscape has changed dramatically with the advent of technology, but the principles of retail remain the same. You still need to know what customers you wish to serve. That is the essential first step. When you do the tasks of merchandising and messaging becomes somewhat easier. You still need the right product, and you need to get customers in the door. That hasn’t changed since retailing began. What has changed is the role technology now plays. The consumer has more options for sure, but you have more reach than ever before and more opportunity in a growing industry. We’re witness to that as we have watched many of our customers grow and prosper. Radio, newspaper, billboards, direct mail, TV might all have worked in the past to attract customers, but they have been replaced by websites, text messaging, emails, social media, etc., that serve the same purpose perhaps at a lesser cost and better results. The window into your store is now your website. Text messaging has replaced the telephone, but in the end the tenets of retail remain the same. The Edge software has the tools and features you need to reach your full potential. It is vital for you to know how to use the Edge’s capabilities to achieve greater success. Watch the short videos, jump into a webinar, come to our in-house training. The training team loves helping and there is nothing we like more then being part of your success. Lean on us for advice and a little help when you need it. In 2023 we are committed to making inventory sourcing, ordering, and recording smarter, faster, and easier as well as more profitable for you. A better selling product assortment with minimal effort is our goal. With over 3500 jewelers using the Edge, we can capture real time sales information and produce analytics to drive better buying decisions like no one else can. The analytics will be available to those who agree to share their information in the sourcing feature. We will capture this information only with your approval. We’ll work to bring quality suppliers into the process who realize the value of working with their retail customers, negotiate favorable stock balancing and co-op advertising conditions, etc. I’m excited to embark on this mission for all the benefits it potentially brings to the entire community of retailers and vendor partners.
